Areas of clinical interest:
The treatment and prevention of running injuries is a an area that interests me, I particularly enjoy helping novice and intermediate level “weekend Warriors” work towards their fitness and exercise goals. I am a strong advocate for making physical activity part of your daily routine and am motivated to help get my patients back enjoying their chosen physical pursuit.
I am currently reading more and learning more about efficient running technique and how this may be applied to the everyday runner not just the elite. In the main stream media a lot of mis-information is fed to the general running community so it is refreshing to be armed with up to date research about running technique that I can share with my patients.
Personally I am currently training for the Sunshine Coast 70.3 Triathlon which takes up most of my spare time, however when I can find a spare moment I am planning a trip to central America with my wife Jane.
More about Dan:
My future sporting goals include completing my first Marathon in 2014 and maybe completing an Ironman Triathlon one day. As for professional aspirations, I am looking forward to learning more about recent advances in sports medicine so that I can apply that knowledge to the treatment of my patients.
While not at work I enjoy Travel and am fascinated by adventurous destinations. I have travelled through South America, and extensively through South East Asia. The highlights of which were walking the Inca Trail in Peru and climbing Mt Kinabalu in Borneo.
My greatest sporting accomplishments to date include finishing my First Half Ironman Triathlon in Yeppoon in 2010. I have also completed numerous Olympic distance Triathlons and try to participate in the Mooloolaba Triathlon every year.
